keeping an eye on the tree and the forest

Dave's Exegesis is my eclectic site of exegesis on pretty much everything I can think of, whether biblical studies, theology, music, movies, culture, food, drink, sports, or the internet.

The Hunt is Over

I have finally been able to upgrade/replace my Gateway Solo 5300 Laptop from 2001. This thing was hurtin. It has served me well though, and brought to completion in college and near completion in seminary. I have simply to taken it to the limits for a Pentium III (900 MHZ) processor, 10 Gig hardrive, with 128 Megs of RAM. I am still going to keep it around, and have toyed with the idea of running Linux on it. Yesterday, I stepped it up to desktop, an Emachines T6216. It runs on a AMD Athlon Processor, which is 64-bit and 2 GHZ, has 512 Megs of RAM (expandable to 4 GB), a 160 Gig Hardrive, DVD/CD burner, and multi-flash card reader. Needless to say, it is more than sufficient for my needs. The Lord has been gracious to bless us with a decent tax return and a pay increase for Kalila to make this happen. I have been talking about a new computer for over a year, and have been researching them for the past few months. It helps to have a former roomate who builds computers, a brother-in-law who repairs computers for a living, and another brother-in-law who works for Microsoft to guide me on my search. It also helps to have a beautiful wife to support this kind of a purchase (wink, wink to Kalila).

It may sound crazy, but that is the trajectory that we are on this bioethic age. Just added a link to the Center of Bioethics and Culture Network. I’ve been thinking about this for the past two weeks since a prayer partner of mine told me about some of the issues we will be facing. He (Tod) just finished his MA in Bioethics from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (teds.edu), which is the only christian program in the country (if not the world). He’s been telling me some of the things on the horizon and it makes me wonder. More on this later.
