sweet you are in a good line of tradition of theologians there. Hey I fixed my blog links and have included yours… I really thought I had included yours. I do not know what happened. I hope your team does well in our fantasy football league… see you on the field.

Hey Dave,

I don’t want to bust your bubble (LOL), but I seriously question this quiz. Here are the results I got when I tried to be as arminian in my responces as I could be (for a joke):

Augustine 100%
Charles Finney 93%
Jonathan Edwards 80%
J?Moltmann 67%
Martin Luther 60%
Paul Tillich 53%
Friedrich Schleiermacher 53%
Anselm 47%
John Calvin 40%
Karl Barth 20%

Except for Finney I think it’s a little off.

good pickup Russ,

actually, I took this quiz 5 times before I got Edwards. the first time I was Barth, the second and third times Anselm, the fourth Moltmann. i was so dinged about the inaccuracies of this quiz the I found the guy’s blog. I tried to post a comment about the quiz, but the comments are closed. his email address was available on the blog so I emailed him what I thought about it. among the things I pointed out was the quiz either reflected a misunderstanding of these theologians or a severe difference of opinion over them. he has yet to respond. thus, I just took the test each different way till I arrived at Edwards. it’s funny because you would think that guys like Moltmann or Anselm would not be on list with the others. I would rather see Aquinas, Wesley, Warfield, Schweitzer, or Keirkegaard.

Crazy stuff man.
I did the quiz once and was so frustrated. Anselm was #1 for me too. Barth came in #2 and Edwards #3…I think. Anyway, lots of fun. I didn’t have the patience to give it another chance. Felt kind of bummed out too, thinking you got Edwards right of the bat. But alas, you have calmed my fears. See you Saturday!

Here’s me:
Anselm (I think he likes him a lot that’s why we all get him)
Calvin
Luther
Barth
Edwards
Augustine

BTW- can someone give this unlearned guy a rundown on Anselm? I’m not familiar with his theology.

anselm is considered one of the main medieval theologians and is generally credited for articulating the language of “penal substitution” as a view of the atonement. he pre-dated aquinas by about 200 years. like augustine and aquinas, he is claimed by the catholic church as a patriarch and saint. st. anselm college in located in goffstown, nh in his memory. that’s a quick run down, you can get far more online.

dude. post something new!

DAVE! It is me, John! No, I have not dissapeared. I will soon have your wedding video, fear not.

So, what a neat little quiz. I easily scored as Barth at 93%, which was expected as he is my role model in theology. Interestingly enough Edwards was VERY last for me, weighing in at 20%.
